About The Joro Slayer

Curiosity became a field mission.

The Joro Slayer is an independent project documenting the spread, behavior, and biology of the Joro spider. What started as curiosity about the enormous yellow spiders appearing throughout the Southeast became a mission to find them, document them, learn about them, and help other people understand what they are seeing.

“Find them. Document them. Learn from them.”

The project combines original video, field observations, community sightings, and published scientific research—and invites everyone else to join the hunt.
